Brands, companies, personal and professional projects say it when they feel they are doing something interesting\u2026 but that no one outside their circle seems to see. The problem is that, almost always, that phrase is formulated as a final objective, when in reality it should be a <strong data-start=\"574\" data-end=\"590\">consequence<\/strong>. Because getting into the press isn't a button you press. It's the result of a well-conceived, well-told, and well-distributed story.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"832\">Before thinking about media, one must ask an uncomfortable question: why should anyone talk about this?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"834\" data-end=\"1165\">The press does not function as an advertising showcase. It is not there to amplify commercial messages or to validate projects simply because they exist. Its function is to tell stories that provide context, explain something relevant, or help to better understand what is happening in an industry, a city, or society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1336\">If your approach starts from \u201c<em>I want them to talk about me<\/em>\u201d, it's highly likely that it won't work. If part of \u201ct<em>I'll tell you something that's worth telling.<\/em>\u201dthe path begins to open up.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1564\">Getting into the press isn't about you, it's about <strong data-start=\"1373\" data-end=\"1395\">what you represent<\/strong>. Of what your project says about a broader topic. Of how it fits into an ongoing conversation. When this is understood, the focus changes completely.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1566\" data-end=\"1880\">The first step is not to write a press release, but rather to <strong data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1644\">define the history<\/strong>. What you do, yes, but above all why it is relevant now. What problem does it address, what need does it fulfil, what perspective does it offer. Often the story is not in the product, but in the process, in the context or in the accumulated experience. A company doesn't make the press for being good, it makes it because it explains something that others aren't explaining.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2270\">The second step is to assume that not all media is for everyone. Wanting to \u201cget in the press\u201d without being specific is like wanting to \u201cget on the internet\u201d. Each medium has its audience, its editorial line and its priorities. Choosing where your story fits is as important as the story itself.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2272\" data-end=\"2514\">A generalist outlet doesn't aim for the same thing as a specialist one. An economic one doesn't cover topics the same way as a cultural one. Adjusting the focus isn't manipulating the message, it's <strong data-start=\"2437\" data-end=\"2461\">Make it understandable<\/strong> for whoever is going to tell it and for whoever is going to read it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2516\" data-end=\"2821\">This is where something that is often underestimated comes into play: respect for the journalist's work. A good brief is clear, direct, and honest. It doesn't promise more than it delivers nor does it hide behind empty words. It provides information, offers data, and leaves room for the journalist to do their job.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2905\">The easier you make it, the more likely you are to get your story moving forward.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2907\" data-end=\"3200\">Another key point is timing. The press thrives on current events, even when dealing with timeless topics. Releasing a story without temporal context is like speaking in an empty room. Instead, connecting your message to something that is happening right now completely changes its relevance. Sometimes it's not what, but when.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3241\" data-end=\"3519\">It's also important to understand that getting press coverage isn't always immediate. Some stories need time to mature, find their niche, or be repeated from different angles. The relationship with the media isn't built with a single submission, but with consistency, coherence, and credibility.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3521\" data-end=\"3627\">Providing value even when you're not being published is a silent investment that often pays off later.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3629\" data-end=\"3905\">Audiovisual formats are playing an increasingly important role here. A good, well-conceived video can be the element that makes a story stand out from many others. Not as a substitute for content, but as reinforcement. As a way of showing, not just explaining. But, just as with text, video must serve the story, not the other way around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3999\" data-end=\"4296\">Being featured in the press shouldn't be seen as a trophy either. It's not about accumulating logos or clippings. It's about <strong data-start=\"4108\" data-end=\"4129\">How do you tell?<\/strong>, in what context do you appear and what image is constructed of your project. A single well-focused appearance can be much more valuable than many cursory mentions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4298\" data-end=\"4493\">When done well, the press doesn't just provide visibility. It lends legitimacy, context, and a narrative. It places you within a broader conversation and, what's more, forces you to be clear about who you are and what you stand for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4495\" data-end=\"4688\">That's why the question, \u201cI want to get into the press, how do I do it?\u201d often transforms, over time, into a more useful one: What story is worth telling now, and why am I the one who can tell it? When that answer exists, the rest stops being an obsession and starts being a process.
